Carpe Diem Consulting
Seize the day. Shape your life.
My practice is rooted in humanistic, existential, and strength-based philosophies, with a focus on building self-efficacy and deepening self-awareness. I offer an alternative to traditional therapy settings — moving beyond the office and into environments that better support your comfort and authenticity. Whether it's walking during our sessions or meeting in a space that feels more natural to you, I encourage you to consider where you feel most at ease. For many, the typical counseling room can feel limiting; together, we’ll shape a space that supports honest connection and meaningful growth.
What’s mental performance consulting?
My job is to help individuals consistently perform at the highest level in their sport, performing art, work, hobbies, relationships, and more. We can work together to remove mental blocks and I will empower you to build self-efficacy and psychological flexibility so you have the tools to find YOUR success.
Sessions may include
Talk therapy approaches (ACT, CBT, etc.)
Reflective questions
Art or music therapy techniques
Walk-and-talks
Progressive Muscle Relaxation scripts
Exploration of past successes and challenges
Periodization plans
Goals and values setting
Some challenges I can help with…
Lack of motivation
Choking under pressure
Building confidence
Managing anxiety
Pre-performance routines
Emotional regulation
Breathing techniques
…and more!

My Story
Hi, I’m Patrick Carrel - I’m glad you’re here! I am mindful of how critical the human connection and relational aspects of my work are, so in this space I’ll share a bit more about me and my story of why I do the work that I do. Whether you feel commonality in my background, identities, passions, where I’m from, etc. or not, I look forward to working with you and helping in whatever capacity makes the most sense for YOU.
I am from a small town in south central Michigan called Marshall and currently live in Denver, Colorado. I have my Masters of Arts in Sport and Performance Psychology from the University of Denver (2025), am working to become a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC), and am in training to become a licensed mental health therapist. My personal interests include climbing, skiing, road biking, reading, camping, building Legos, and video games.
I am a middle child with an older sister working in medicine and younger brother in graphic design. My parents moved to my hometown because my father, Craig, started his own business in plastics injection molding in a nearby town and my mother had roots in Michigan. I am fortunate that both of my parents were and continue to be role models for what it means to be kind, gracious, and thoughtful leaders.
Like many others, COVID was a time of challenge and loss in my life. I am inspired by those who have and continue to support me. Carpe Diem Consulting is named after a phrase that my parents would often say and embody, “seize the day,” encouraging me and my siblings to live in the moment and pursue our passions.
